This is a full time remote position that involves a combination of data science and software development tasks. You will report directly to the founders and be responsible for effective implementation of many of Tekal’s solutions.
Responsibilities
- Developing analytics solutions from scratch, including data integration, EDA, model development and visualization.
- Coordinating the implementation of research projects. You will be in charge of ensuring timely and reliable operations, robustness of the solutions and proper documentation. This also involves coordinating the researchers involved in each project.
- Upgrading existing products and keeping them updated to new data.

You are a highly enthusiastic data scientist with a strong background in software engineering. You thrive in dynamic environments and are able to take initiative and enjoy challenges. You enjoy building and keeping updated diverse data solutions at the same time, learning new tools as needs come up, and collaborating with scientists and clients in highly non-linear projects.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
- Software development and data science experience in Python and SQL.
- Experience working with two or more from the following: AWS, distributed and parallel systems, data structures, machine learning, information retrieval, networking, developing large software systems, computer vision, recommender systems.
Preferred qualifications
- MS or PhD degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or other technical related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to learn new languages as needed.
This is a remote position. You will be in charge of building and automating interactive visualizations. In addition, you will be expected to help build a single environment where our customers can interact with the results we provide.
Responsibilities
- Integrate existing visualizations of our COVID-19 predictive model into a single interface.
- Produce additional visualizations as our predictive models add new functionalities.
About you
You’re a whiz with data visualizations and enjoy optimizing user interfaces. You are comfortable with open source tools and are ready to build new visualizations from scratch. You thrive in fast-paced environments and love working in start up mode.
Minimum qualifications
- Studies in Data Science, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working with two or more of the following: QGIS, Plotly, Leaflet, Candela, PowerBI, Tableau, Python, Java, SQL.
